3D digitalization applied to the moulds
Creating new moulds
3d optical scanning is ideal when designing moulds for new products. The industrial reproduction of handmade objects requires the creation of a mould, but there are no CAD files which allow its reproduction: the best solution is the 3D scan of the handmade object and the generation of its exact model which can then be modified or used to create the necessary mould for the consequent production.
Reconstruction of an exhausted mould
At the end of the life span of a mould, more often than not, there are no exact model of the original shape which allows its remaking. The 3d scan can, in a short time, produce a CAD model true to the imprint of the exhausted mould: at this point it is easy to eliminate any aging defects that can be present in order to obtain the exact model originally designed.
